Oliva W. Couture, Frpd, Ret.

Oliva W. Couture, FRPD, Retired, 101, of Fall River passed away Friday, February 4, 2022 at his home in Fall River, with his family by his side. He was the husband of the late Eleanor (Clunan) Couture and was her devoted caregiver in her last years of life.

Mr. Couture’s heart was in serving his community.  He was a Fall River Police Officer (Park Police Division) and previously an Army veteran of World War II.

His pastimes included stamp collecting and woodworking.  He was considered a great handyman who always enjoyed a project around the home.

A family man, Oliva leaves behind four children, Janet Clark (husband Kenneth),  Robert Couture, Barbara Lanigan and Lee Ann Couto; 10 grandchildren, Michael Clark, Kristen Medeiros, Jennifer Chaves, Kimberlee Lescault, Steven Couto, Jr., Denise Lanigan, Karen Furtado, Eric Couto, Tayla Couto and Maryssa Couto; 16 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was the son of the late Joseph and Albina (Courtemanche) Couture and the brother of the late Laurette Brodeur, Evelyn McDonald and Leonette Gagnon.

Visitation will be held Tuesday February 8, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main St.Fall River, MA.

His funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at 10:00 AM at the Funeral Home.  The family will greet guests starting at 9:00 AM,  Burial with military honors will take place at St. Patrick Cemetery, Fall River.  In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory are appreciated to Southcoast VNA, 200 Mill Rd.
