Odete (Barbosa) Xavier

Odete (Barbosa) Xavier, 91, of Fall River, wife of Adelino Xavier, passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2017. Born in Salga, St. Michael, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Francisco and Maria Isabel (Correia) Barbosa. A homemaker, she loved cooking and cleaning for her family.

Besides her husband of 67 years, survivors include 4 children, Odete DeMelo (husband Carlos), Martin Xavier (wife Leonor), Rosa Pinto (husband Antonio), all of Fall River and Marina Bailey (husband Frederick) of Dartmouth; a sister, Olga Moniz of New Bedford, 7 grandchildren, Lisa Costa, Andy DeMelo, Jason and Derek Pinto, Pamela Xavier, Courtney and Preston Bailey; 8 great-grandchildren, Quintin, Riley, Tayla, Xavier, Christian, Mason, Mayve and Cedric, a godchild, George Pacheco and nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held Friday at 9:00 AM from the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass at Espirito Santo Church, Alden St. at 10:00 AM. Interment, Notre Dame Cemetery.

Visitation Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Large parking area & barrier-free entrance at the rear of funeral home.
