Normand E. Petit

Normand E. Petit, 88, of Fall River, formerly of Swansea, husband of Laurette (Beaudry) Petit, entered into rest Sunday, December 4, 2016.

He graduated from Assumption Preparatory School in 1946 and Bryant College in 1949 and was Administrative Officer of the US Navy Commissary Store Division, Newport, RI retiring in 1989 after 34 years of service.

He was also employed by the former Pouliot's Automotive Service, Fall River, for 25 years and the Berube family catering business, Mother's Box Lunch, Somerset for 5 years. He served in the US Army Reserve, A Line Battery of the 747th.-AWBN, Fall River, the 399th. Combat Service Hospital, Taunton, the Personnel Service Co., Brockton, graduated from the Sergeant Major Academy, Fort Bliss, TX, retiring as Master Sergeant with 27 years of service.

He was a former member of St. Michael Parish, Swansea and a director of the former St. Michael Credit Union. A Fourth Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus, he was Blood Officer for the Bishop Cassidy Council, 3669, Swansea for many years and a member of the Bishop Stang Assembly and the St. Bernadette Council. A winter resident of Wildwood, Florida from 1987 to 2008, he was a member of NARFE, AARP and the Lake County Veterans Honor Guard, a director of Parkwood Oaks Homeowners Association and an Altar Server at St. Vincent de Paul Church.

Besides his beloved wife of 63 years, he leaves three children, Michelle Scheibeck and her husband Robert of Ocala, FL, Albert N. Petit of Humble, TX and Gisele Rodrigues and her husband Paul of Warren, RI; grandchildren, Jason Duffy (wife Stacy), Sara Petit, Jessica Rodrigues and Nicholas Rodrigues; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Madison Duffy; siblings, Raymond Petit (wife Claudette) of Westport, Bernard Petit (wife Christine) of Gilbert, AZ and Henriette Roy (late husband Romeo) of Fall River; and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Charlotte Petit; the grandfather of the late Krista Duffy; the son of the late Albert and Laetitia (Vallee) Petit and the brother of the late Robert Petit (wife Germaine of Tiverton) and the late Richard Petit (wife Natalie of Swansea).

His funeral will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. from the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass at St. Bernadette Church, at 11:00 a.m. Interment, Notre Dame Cemetery.

Visitation, Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Large parking area & barrier-free entrance at the rear of funeral home.
