Normand J. Melanson

Normand "Nap" Melanson, 80. of Fall River, husband of Claire (Berard) Melanson, died on Wednesday, March 26, 2008.
Normand was the son of the late Albert and Annie (McDermott) Melanson. He graduated from B.M.C.Durfee High School. He was employed by Mills Brothers Auto Upholsterers of Fall River, Glazer Glass of New Bedford, and the Fall River Minimum Housing Dept. He was also the Director of Plymouth West and King Philip Federal Housing Programs. A Navy See Bees veteran of WWII, he was the recipient of the American and Asiatic-Pacific Theater medals. He was a member of the Friends of Mitchell's Drug Store.
Besides his wife of 53 years, he was the father of the late Albert Melanson. He leaves 3 daughters, Therese Cabral, husband Jeffrey, Jacqueline Thran, husband William, all of Fall River; Jeannine Joseph, husband Thomas of Little Compton, RI, and a daughter-in-law Kathy Melanson-LePage of Somerset. He was also the brother of Annette Trombley of Fall River. He leaves grandchildren Amy and Sheena Melanson, William and Timothy Thran, Jeffrey and Julie Cabral, Cassey LePage and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Saturday at 9:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 South Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in Holy Trinity Church at 10:00 AM. Burial, Notre Dame Cemetery.
