Norman F. Belanger

March 13, 1933 — May 16, 2011

Norman F. Belanger, 78, of Woodman St., Fall River, formerly of Newport St., husband of the late Theresa A. "Terry" (Castilloux) Belanger, died Monday, May 16, 2011. A member of Local 174, Amalgamated Transit Union, he was a driver for Southeastern Regional Transit Authority for 27 years and previously with Newport Finishing Corp. for nearly 30 years. A golfer and golf clubmaker, he enjoyed boxing, and duckpin bowling and was an avid storyteller. He played semi-pro football with the Mitchell Memorial Club of Middleboro and was a Northeast Region Men's Senior Doubles Handball champion. He leaves 2 children, Melanie Whipp and her husband David of Fall River and Dr. Wayne David Belanger of Bristol, RI; grandchildren, Mecca Levesque, Darryl Diosomito and his wife Emily, and Daniel Diosomito; great-grandsons, Mason and Dylan Diosomito; siblings, Doris Thomson and Gerard Belanger, both of Fall River; nieces, nephews, and his faithful companion "Sammy". He was the son of the late Louis and Alice (Fortin) Belanger, and the brother of the late Aline Allen and Raymond and Maurice Belanger. Following cremation, a memorial mass will be held Thursday, at 10:00 AM in St. Anne Church. Visitation and flowers omitted.
