A committal service will be held in the mausoleum of Notre Dame Cemetery, 1565 Stafford Rd. Fall River, at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2017.

Miguel Fernandes, 81, of Westport, husband of Ligia (Patricio) Fernandes, passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Saint Luke's Hospital, New
Bedford, Massachusetts. Born in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal, he was the son of the late Agostinho and Conceicao (Pereira) Fernandes. He started his family in Venezuela where he worked in a supermarket. He later, brought his family here and was employed by Pearson Yachts, Portsmouth, Rhode Island until his retirement. Miguel enjoyed gardening, helping people with home improvement projects and was known for his great sense of humor.
Besides his wife of 56 years, he leaves behind two daughters, Alicia Antunes (husband Alvaro) of Westport and Carmen Faria (husband Thomas) of Acushnet; three grandsons, Matthew Antunes, Trevor Faria and Dale Faria and a sister, Zita of Maderia. He was the brother of the late Agostinho, Zulmira, Maria, Manuela and Luis. He also leaves behind sister/brother-in-laws and many nieces and nephews both here and abroad.
