Michael D. Poissant

March 2, 1963 — January 16, 2011

Michael D. Poissant, 47, of East Freetown, MA, formerly of Fall River, husband of Karen (Budzisz) Poissant, and son of Douglas Poissant and the late Lillian Poissant, died Sunday, January 16, 2011, following a courageous, five year battle with cancer. A master electrician, licensed in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, he was employed by Briere and Paquette Electric. He was previously employed at Gold Medal Bakery. A wonderful father and loving husband of 23 years, he solely built the family's vacation home in New Hampshire and completed the finish work in his present home. He was a muscle car enthusiast, enjoying his ‘69 Corvette, 442 Oldsmobile and '72 Chevelle. He loved sports, traveling, white water rafting, skiing, repelling, scuba diving, sky diving, hiking, snowmobiling, dirt biking and motorcycles. Besides his wife and father, he leaves, 2 children, Brittany L. Poissant and David M. Poissant, both of East Freetown; siblings, Rosemary D'Addio of Aurora, CO, Audrey Beebe of Clermont, FL, and Jason Poissant of Fall River; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren and friends. A memorial mass will be held Friday at 9:00 AM in Good Shepherd Church, formerly St. Patrick's,1598 So. Main St., Fall River. Visitation Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, in the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River. LARGE PARKING AREA and BARRIER-FREE ENTRANCE at the rear of funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please donate blood in Michael's memory to the Southcoast Hospitals Blood Bank.
