Megan L. Cordeiro

October 15, 1996 — June 5, 2008

Megan Lynn Cordeiro, age 11, of Tiverton, beloved daughter of John and Teresa (Palmer) Cordeiro and sister of Chelsea and Sarah Cordeiro, passed away peacefully, June 5, 2008 at Hasbro Children's Hospital after a courageous 18 month battle with Leukemia. She was surrounded by her family and many friends who had come to know her as the "Brave Little Bumblebee" The one thing Megan missed the most during her battle with cancer was playing soccer. Prior to her illness, she was a competitive player for Tiverton Youth Soccer and The Stingers. She was also a great dancer who studied all types of dance at The Creative Dance Center. In addition, she played basketball, the flute and enjoyed being a Girl Scout. Throughout her illness she was tutored at home and always maintained honor roll status. Her debut on the big screen occurred last summer when she starred in a RI Blood Center/Tomorrow Fund commercial. Since then, we have been watching our Brave Little Bumblebee on many TV channels. Besides her parents, sisters and many friends, especially those she has met along this journey, she leaves her grandparents: William and Isaura (Portela) Palmer of Tiverton and Thomas and Irene (Enos) Cordeiro of Assonet and her kitties, Phoebe and Miss Foo. She was the niece of Anne (Palmer) Molloy and Chris Molloy, Susan (Cordeiro) Mattie and John Mattie, Jr., Guy Cordeiro and the late Joseph Cordeiro. Her cousins include Audrey, Breahna, Johnny, Matthew, Emma and Jack. Her funeral will be held Monday at 8:30 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a mass of Christian Burial in St. Theresa Church, Stafford Rd., Tiverton at 10:00 AM. Burial, Pocasset Hill Cemetery, Tiverton. Visitation, Sunday 3:00 to 8:00 PM.
