Maurice C. Desmarais

Maurice C. Desmarais, 93, of Fall River and Florida, husband of the late Viola M. "Vi" (Plamondon) Desmarais, died Wednesday, April 21, 2010. He was employed by Gold Medal Bakery for 40 years and was an apartment rental property owner. A decorated Army veteran of WW II and recipient of two Purple Heart Medals, he was a member of the American Legion, Swansea. He enjoyed traveling and dancing. He was the father of Claire Thompson (husband Alan) of Portsmouth, RI, David B. Desmarais (wife Rita) of Fall River and the late Paul Desmarais (wife late Margaret); the grandfather of Heidi Thompson, Natashia Desmarais, Paul Desmarais (wife Barachel), and Felicia, Alexandria and Neal Desmarais; the great-grandfather of Elliot Jorge Moniz; the son of the late Ovila and Rosanna (Gagnon) Desmarais; and the brother of Wilfred, Paul, and Leo "Popeye" Desmarais, all of Florida and the late Gerard "Pete", Bertrand and Normand Desmarais and Loretta Lamoureux. His funeral will be held Tuesday at 9:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in St. Joseph Church at 10:00 AM. Cremation to follow. Visitation, Monday, 4:00 to 8:00 PM. LARGE PARKING AREA and BARRIER-FREE ENTRANCE at the rear of funeral home.
