Maureen C. (Riley) Phelan

Maureen (Riley) Phelan, 87, of Somerset, passed on Friday, February 3, 2023 at Charlton
Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
Cherished wife of 65 years to John Phelan, Maureen is survived by her son, John Phelan
his wife Libby, and beloved grandchildren Miranda and Zachary. She is also survived by siblings
Marilyn Chaves and John Riley, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Maureen was the daughter of John and Mary Riley of Fall River and is predeceased by
siblings Edward Meehan, Grace Heywood, Doris Lingard, Beverly Bettencourt, Marylou
McGovern, and Francis Riley.

She was a 1954 graduate of BMC Durfee High School in Fall River.
Maureen was an avid baker, knitter, and candy maker. A compassionate and generous
person, she was known to share her talents with family, friends, and neighbors.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Our Lady of Peace Parish at St. Patrick’s Church, 306 South St. in Somerset.  Burial will follow at Nathan Slade Cemetery, Prospect St., Somerset.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Maureen’s name may be made to the
