Mary C. Arruda

Mary “Connie” Arruda, 90, of Fall River, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024, at home surrounded by her loving family.

Born is Capalas, St. Michael, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Manuel D. and Anna T. (Oliveira) Arruda.

She was employed as a sewing machine operator in the garment industry. Connie, as she was called by her family, was talented in the art of crocheting and sewing. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed being in the kitchen cooking meals and baking treats. Connie enjoyed being out and about in her community which often included getting a cup of coffee with a donut after church, and spending time with her family taking them with her on short excursions whether to the beach or La Salette.

She leaves behind one sister: Leonilde Henley and her husband Philip Henley Jr.; five nieces and nephews: Kenneth Henley; Linda Henley; Anne Henley; Christopher Henley and his companion, Susan Carreiro; and Christine Cowen and her husband, David Cowen. Connie was also the beloved great-aunt to Courtney Henley, Rebecca Cowen, Jason Carreiro, Chad Carreiro, and the late Jennifer Henley. She was also the sister of the late Mary “May” Arruda.

A very devote Catholic, her funeral was private.
