Mary Carreiro

May 15, 1957 — September 9, 2011

Mary Carreiro, beloved of Christ. At 54 years of age, Mary was a born-again Christian and has gone home to Heaven. Mary was a resident of Blossom Rd., Westport, MA, formerly of Fall River and Somerset. Mary was born on May 15, 1957 and was diagnosed Down Syndrome. Our family had the privilege of having her given to us by God. She was the greatest testimony of God's love to anyone who ever met her. There was no guile in her. She never held grudges, judged anyone, gossiped, or demanded her way, and accepted everyone as they were. She had a simple, child-like trust, joy, inward beauty and humility. Her bright eyes and smile welcomed everyone and made everyone feel at home. Of all the people who have come through our lives, Mary was the greatest revelation of Christ to all mankind and our lives were enriched by her life. She will be sorely missed and live in the hearts of all who knew her. This world will not be the same without her. Mary attended Nazareth Hall and Borden Elementary School and was one of the first participants in the special Olympics and a member of the Special Bowling League. The beloved daughter of the late James R. and Mary (Perry) Carreiro and the sister of the late James Carreiro, Jr., Mary is survived by two sisters, Helen Wentworth and Marilyn Cote; two aunts, Alice Costa and Dolores Costa; several nieces, nephews; cousins; a great niece, and two great nephews. She is also survived by her extended family at LifeStream. Following cremation, a celebration service will be held at Grace Gospel Church, 271 Sharps Lot Rd., Swansea, on Saturday, September 17 at 9:00 AM. Donations to Grace Gospel Church appreciated.
