Marjorie A. (Arruda) Almeida

Marjorie A. (Arruda) Almeida, age 91½, formerly of Tiverton, RI, passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, surround by her loving family at the home of her beloved daughter, Marjorie "Marcy" Ytkin, and son-in-law, Neil Ytkin.

Marjorie was born in Tiverton, RI. The daughter of the late Antone and Ambrosina (Camara) Arruda. She was also the wife of the late William F. Almeida. Marjorie is survived by her daughter Marjorie Ytkin (husband Neil) of Fall River, grandson Charles William Schanil, III (Bobbi Erika), great-grandson Charles William Schanil VI, son James Almeida (wife Karen) of Pawtucket, RI, several beloved nieces and nephews.

She worked for many years as a sewing machine operator at Kravif Mfg. in Fall River before retiring. Marjorie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, knitting, listening to music, dancing, following politics and an avid Jets fan. She enjoyed her time spent with her friends and staff at the Highland Adult Daycare. She was also a proud member of the International Women's Garment Union.

She believed in living life to the fullest, cherishing each day, and always finding the silver lining in every situation. Marjorie was overwhelmed with joy and happiness during her 90th birthday celebration last year, which also doubled as a family reunion. She cherished that moment and wants to ensure that her memory lives on as a source of happiness and celebration.

She was predeceased by her son William "Billy" Almeida and daughter Carol Meagher; her siblings: Maria, Sara, Virginia, Theresa, Gloria, Virginia, Delores, Gladys, Connie, Alfred, Antone, Manuel, Joseph, William, and John.
The family would like to thank Dr. Bassley and staff, Hospice Team (with special thanks to RN's Tiffany, Fiordaliza, Lisa, Joycelyn, Sara, LPN Grace, NP Kelly & Dr. Risk) from Southcoast VNA for their compassionate care and Highland Adult Daycare.
