Maria C. Benevides

Maria C. (Sousa) Benevides, 62, of Fall River, wife of Duarte M. Benevides, Sr. passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at home after a brief illness.
Born in Livramento, Ponta Delgada, St. Michael, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Emilio and Maria (Costa) Sousa. She enjoyed shopping, Facebook games and spending time with her grandchildren.
Besides her husband of 45 years, survivors include five children, Maria Holleran (husband Timothy) of Dartmouth, Jorge Benevides (fianceé) Nancy Soares of Fall River, Carla DeMedeiros of Fall River, Duarte Benevides, Jr. of Fall River and Carina Barroso (husband Jeffrey of Fall River, eight grandchildren, Casandra Medeiros, Jesse Medeiros, Andrew Benevides, Kayla Holleran, Luke Benevides, Hillary Holleran, Logan Vieira and Aiden Barroso; four siblings, Antonio Sousa of Georgia, Juvenalia Benevides of Fall River, Brian Sousa of Canada and Alda Holleran of Fall River.



She was the mother of the late Carla Benevides and the sister of the late Emilio Sousa.
Her funeral will be held Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 8:00 a.m. from Auclair Funeral Home, with a funeral mass in Good Shepherd Church, South Main St. Fall River, at 9:00 a.m. Burial will take place in Notre Dame Cemetery.
Visitation Friday, March 10, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
