Maria (Rodrigues) Antunes

Maria (Rodrigues) Antunes, 84, of Fall River, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, April 19, 2024, after a long illness.

She was the wife of Fernando A. Antunes. They shared 52 years of marriage.

Born in Valdreu Vila Verde, Portugal, she was the daughter of Jose and Maria (Gonsalves) Rodrigues.

Maria loved spending time outside in her yard tending to her large variety of flowers and her garden. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting.

She made the best Portuguese biscoitos. She enjoyed taking her daily walks around her neighborhood visiting her friends and family.  She loved spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. She was an extremely selfless person, loving, and caring to all who knew her.

A seamstress, Maria was employed by Santoro Manufacturing.

Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, Fernando “Fred” Antunes (and his wife Maria Pauline) and Sergio Antunes (and his wife Sadira); three grandchildren, Lauren Antunes, Lucas Antunes and August Antunes; a brother, Joao Rodrigues; nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Manuel Rodrigues and Americo Rodrigues.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 23 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main St. Fall River.

Her funeral will be held Wednesday, April 24, at 9:00 AM from the funeral home, with a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Good Shepherd Church, South Main St. Fall River.

Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery.
