Marcel R. Lafond

Marcel R. Lafond, 86, of Fall River, husband of Marilyn (Velozo) Lafond, passed away Sunday, May 8, 2016. A Navy veteran of the Korean War, he was employed by H. P. Hood & Sons Milk Distributors and owned and operated Ruggles Park Variety for many years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Tiverton Knights of Columbus and was an avid Red Sox fan. Besides his wife of 60 years, he leaves three children, Jean Marie Galego and her husband Michael of Taunton, Paul K. Lafond and his wife Nancy of Swansea and William J. Lafond and his wife Gloria of Berkley; grandchildren, Jason Galego (Jennifer), Erin Rodrigues (Nicholas), Brendan Lafond (Lauren) and Kristen Lafond (Richard Wapenyi); great-grandchildren, Jessica and Justin Galego, Amari and Mya Rodrigues and Jerry Mathurin, Jr.; a brother, Felix Arthur Lafond and his wife Joan of Tiverton and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Norman Lafond (wife, late Barbara); the brother-in-law of Donald A. Velozo (wife Shirley) of Camp Hill, PA; and the son of the late Joseph A. and Alberta (Lavallee) Lafond. His funeral will be held Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. from the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass at Holy Name Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment, St. Patrick Cemetery. Visitation, Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Large parking area & barrier-free entrance at the rear of funeral home.
