Marcel R. Daquay

Marcel R. Daquay, 71, of Portsmouth, R.I., passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on March 2, 2024. Born in Covington, Virginia he was the son of the late Joseph and Catherine (Alanou) Daquay.
Marcel graduated from Rogers High School in Newport, R.I., in1970 and the University of Rhode Island in 1974. Marcel was employed as a civil engineer by General Dynamics-Electric Boat from 1975 until he retired in 2007. He was also a chef and owner of Le Moulin Rouge Restaurante in Tiverton, RI.  Which, he operated alongside his late parents Chef Joseph and Catherine and more recently with his son Marc. He was a devoted reader of history books and a critical thinker who loved to share his knowledge. In his spare time Marcel enjoyed boating, traveling, scuba diving, movies, going out with his family and friends and being with his two adoring granddaughters; who will truly miss their PaPa forever for his history lessons and his funny antics.
PaPa Marcel leaves behind his son Marc DaQuay and his wife Janessa LeComte-DaQuay, he was a loving PaPa to his granddaughters Jessleanna and Jonmarie LeComte-DaQuay. He also leaves behind his former wife April (Lawrence) Viveiros, her husband Philip Viveiros and their dog Lucy.
His funeral and burial were private.
