Manuel T. Piedade, 88, of Fall River, husband of the late Fernanda (Simas Quental) Piedade, died Thursday, April 30, 2009 at the Highlander Nursing Home.
A mason and farmer in Portsmouth, RI, he built stone walls and participated in the Kennedy Park Farmer's Market.
He leaves 5 children, Fernanda Ferreira and her husband Antonio and Carlos Simas and his wife Cecilia, all of Fall River, Cremilde Medeiros and her husband Jose Luis of Somerset, Antonio Piedade and his wife Judy of Assonet and Edie Oliveira and her husband Larry of Rochester, MA; grandchildren, Sandy Gallant, Deborah and Jeffrey Ferreira, Cathy, Tanisha and Chastine Medeiros, Briana and Katya Simas, Pedro, Sara, Paul, Simone and Gabriel Piedade and Schyler Oliveira; great-grandchildren, Ebin Lagasse and Maximus Gallant; a sister, Regina of St. Michael, Azores and nieces and nephews.
He was the son of the late Antonio and Isabel (Piedade) Tavares and the brother of the late Maria Jose, Conceicao, Joana and Antonio.
His funeral will be held Monday at 9:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in Good Shepherd Church at 10:00 AM. Burial, Notre Dame Cemetery.
Visitation, Sunday 5:00 to 8:00 PM. LARGE PARKING AREA and BARRIER-FREE entrance at the rear of funeral home.
