Manuel R. Mendonca

Manuel "Manny" Mendonca, 74, of Fall River, MA, beloved husband and best friend of Barbara (Hospod) Mendonca, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, March 17th surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Manuel was born on September 8, 1938 in Fall River. He was the son of the late Jose R. and Maria (Texeira) Mendonca and brother of the late Jose R. Mendonca of Fall River. He graduated from Durfee High School in 1956. In his early years, Manuel was employed as a parts manager at various car dealerships and retired from the New England Power Plant. Manuel enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He liked snowmobiling, RV traveling and vacationing in Myrtle Beach. A longtime interest of Manuel was motorcycles and he got his first taste of riding when he got his license at age 68. Manuel served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. Besides his wife Barbara of 52 years, Manuel is survived by his son Russell Mendonca of Fall River; daughter Donna (Mendonca) Medeiros and her husband John of East Freetown; and beloved Grandson Zachary as well as nieces, nephews and friends. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Southcoast Center for Cancer Care team, Southcoast VNA as well as the staff at St Luke's Hospital for their loving care and support. Manuel will be remembered at the 10:30 am Memorial Mass on Sunday, April 7th at SS Peter and Paul Parish at Holy Cross Church, Pulowski Street, Fall River. All are welcome to join the family.
