Manuel J. Furtado

Manuel J. Furtado, 68, of State Ave., Tiverton, husband of Barbara (D'Arruda) Furtado, died Monday April 7, 2008. He served as president of the Laborer's Union, local 673, Middletown, and at the state level as a board member of the Laborers Union, Providence. An Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of the VFW, St. Anne's Fraternity, North Tiverton Sportsmans Club, and the former Ponta Delgada Club. Besides his wife of 39 years, he leaves children, Danielle Furtado, Daniel Furtado and wife Kim, and Deana Furtado, all of Tiverton and Dana Furtado and wife Sherrie of Old Orchid Beach, ME; siblings, Inez and John Furtado, both of Tiverton, 5 grandchildren, Darren, KDan, Kaley, Keegan and Alyssa Furtado and nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late John B. and Mary H. (Correia) Furtado and the brother of the late Ann McKenzie and Pat Dagais. His funeral will be held Tuesday at 8:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in Holy Ghost Church, Judson St., Tiverton at 9:00 AM. Burial, Pocasset Hill Cemetery. Visitation, Monday from 3:00 to 8:00 PM. LARGE PARKING AREA AND BARRIER-FREE ENTRANCE at the rear of funeral home.
