Louise Cyr

October 28, 1929 — December 17, 2024

Swansea

Louise “Memere” Cyr (Marcoux), matriarch of the Cyr family, was reunited with her sweetheart, family and friends in heaven on Tuesday December 17th, 2024.

Born in Fall River on October 28, 1929 She was one of seven brothers and sisters of Antionette Crepeau and Henry Marcoux. Mem began her dedicated service to her family at a young age. During the Great Depression at the end of 6th grade she stopped school to work and help the family make ends meet. It was always a goal of hers to complete her education and in her later years she earned her GED as well as attended some college classes at Bristol Community College in her late 50s. One of the jobs that defined her life was as the original Cake Boss learning the craft working at Terminal Bakery. Over the years she created countless cakes for weddings and birthdays for her family and friends, making one of a kind works of confectionary art.

Louise met the love of her life Robert “Bob” Cyr while living in the North End of Fall River. While Bob was serving in the Pacific during WW2 Louise would read and translate his letters written in English into French from Bob to his mother and grandmother to hear. Upon his return, they married in 1949 and began their life together and established the family homestead in Swansea shortly after.

Louise leaves a legacy of devotion to family, love and kindness to those in need. She is survived by her sons Paul ( wife Melissa), Pierre (wife Carolyn), and daughter Michelle. Her grandchildren Jean-Claude (wife Laura), Chantal (husband Jason), Woody (wife Leanne), Dominique, and Gabrielle. Mem’s pride and joy were her great-grandchildren Ty, Ian, Aiyanna, Leilani, and Kalina. She also leaves her brother, Joseph Marcoux and his wife Claudette. Louise was the sister of the late Claire Cyr, Laurette Michaud and Pauline, Armand and Hector Marcoux.

We all love you for all the kindness, generosity and life lessons you gave us. We all know that you will forever “Love us more!”
