Louis P. Szurleys, 93, of Detroit St., Fall River, husband of the late Alice (Proulx)Szurleys passed away at home, surrounded by his family and friends, Saturday, January 12, 2013. An Army Air Force veteran of WW II, he worked in the textile industry and for Anderson Little Manufacturing, and was a letter carrier and clerk with the US Postal Service for 23 years, retiring in 1980. An avid sportsman and Red Sox and Patriots fan, he enjoyed gardening, fishing and traveling. He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish and the former St. William Parish. He leaves 3 children, Joan Sliger (Kenneth) of Tennessee, Louis P. Szurleys, Jr. (Diane) of Alaska and Sandra Szurleys (Todd Medeiros) of Fall River; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late Walenty Szurleys and Anna (Ramut) Szurleys Nowacki; and the brother of the late Amelia Hammond, Teddy and Boley Nowacki and Wanda Chase. Private funeral arrangements entrusted to AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME. Donations to South Coast VNA, 200 Mill Rd., Fairhaven MA 02790, appreciated.
