Lionel A. "Nel" Thiboutot, 85, of Stafford Rd., Tiverton, died Saturday, January 27, 2007 at home.
He was the husband of Jeanne F. (Bosse) Swainamer Thiboutot and the husband of the late Blanche (Auclair) Thiboutot.
Born in Fall River, the son of the late Josephat and Bernadette (Chretien) Thiboutot, he lived in Fall River for many years and in Tiverton for the past 47 years.
He was founder and co-owner of the former Thiboutot Brothers Blacksmiths, Body and Fender, Fall River.
A graduate of the former Msgr. Prevost High School and Navy veteran of WW II, he was past-president of St. Anne Fraternity, Club Richelieu and Msgr. Prevost High School Alumni Association and a member of Westport Yacht Club and the Tiverton Knights of Columbus.
He enjoyed his horses, fishing and cooking and volunteered his services for the benefit of St. Theresa Parish.
Besides his wife of 19 years, he is survived by
2 sisters, Jeannette Canuel and Sister Celine Thiboutot, O.P., both of Fall River;
3 stepdaughters, Cynthia DuBois, Pamela Tripp and her husband Daniel, and Joanne Orr and her husband Michael, all of Westport;
2 stepsons, Mark Swainamer and his wife Sharlene of Lakeville and Gary Swainamer and his wife Sherri of Westport;
10 step-grandchildren, 4 step-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Armand, Alphonse, Eugene and Gabriel Thiboutot, Lorraine Beaulieu, Pauline Peck, Blanche Hechler and Rita Cournoyer.
His funeral will be held Tuesday at 9:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River with a funeral mass in St. Theresa Church, Tiverton at 10:00 AM.
Burial, Notre Dame Cemetery. Visitation, Monday 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
LARGE PARKING AREA and barrier-free entrance at the rear of funeral home.
