Leroy “Buzzy” Mills, 88 of Fall River, passed into eternal life Saturday, January 22, 2022. He was the husband of Shirley A. (Wheelock) Mills whom he shared 65 years of marriage.
Buzzy had an ambitious work ethic. His first job being a Herald News “paperboy” at the young age of 12. Proudly serving his country, Buzzy was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War. Thereafter, he graduated from StoneHill College in 1960 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics. Buzzy was employed as a director of the federal government’s HUD program for 35 years. He then worked for Jamestown Housing Authority. After retirement, Buzzy kept busy working at Viti, Tiverton, as a driver. In his younger days he enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Rotary Club. He treasured spending time with Shirley, the love of his life. They enjoyed visiting area casinos together.
He was the son of the late Leroy and Mary Blanche Mills.
Besides his loving wife, Buzzy leaves a son, Geoffrey Mills (wife Christine); a daughter, Lori A. Mills, two granddaughters, Sarah and Emily Mills; a sister, Barbara Hartnett; a dear brother-in-law, Major Wheelock; nieces and nephews. He was the step grandfather of the late Kevin Maloney and the brother of the late Marilyn Timmons.
