The Heart of Our Family
Kenneth “Pops” Sampson, the man who turned coffee into a love language and laughter into a family tradition, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2024, surrounded by the immense love of his cherished family. He was the loving husband of Cynthia (Souza) Sampson.
Ken was the heart of his family—a guiding light who left an indelible mark on everyone he met.
Thanksgiving was Ken’s favorite holiday, and for good reason. It wasn’t just about the turkey or the pies (though he truly enjoyed cooking large meals); it was about gathering his loved ones around the table, cracking jokes, sharing stories, and making sure every seat was filled with warmth and joy. Ken made every family gathering feel like a celebration of life itself.
If you were looking for Ken, chances were you’d find him holding court at his favorite Dunkin’ Donuts. Whether sipping coffee or chatting with anyone who passed through, Ken’s presence was a constant, a comforting reminder that the world is a little brighter with good company and a fresh cup of joe.
Pittsburgh, NH, held a special place in Ken’s heart. Every August, he could be found enjoying the Moose Festival, surrounded by friends, family, and the majestic beauty of the North Country. It was his happy place, a cherished tradition.
Ken’s greatest joy was his family. His wife, children and grandchildren weren’t just the center of his world—they were his world. He was the dad who cheered the loudest, the grandpa who told the best stories, and the man who gave the biggest hugs. His love was boundless, his laughter contagious, and his heart immeasurable. Ken was the embodiment of kindness, the friend you could always count on, and the neighbor who would drop everything to help in a time of need. His caring nature was matched only by his sharp wit and unmatched sense of humor, which left an impression on everyone lucky enough to know him.
Besides his wife, Kenneth is survived by his children, Kenneth (wife Lisa) Sampson, Justin (wife Jennifer) Sampson, and Jennifer (husband Elton) Santos; his step-children, Kerri (husband Justin) Grundy, and Amanda (husband Jeff) Young; his grandchildren, Kaden, Lily, and Mason Sampson, Kimberly and Natalie Santos, Hailey Felix, Matthew Grundy, and Jacob and Savannah Young; and his siblings, Robert C. (wife Connie) Sampson, Jr., Beverly Ann (late husband Skip) Anderson, Donna (husband Fred) Hipolito, and Eva Carreiro.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert C. Sampson, Sr. and Eva B (Saleem) Sampson.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 17, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 S.Main St. Fall River.
Ken leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and countless memories that will continue to bring smiles through the tears. Though our hearts ache, we find comfort in knowing that he’s enjoying a heavenly cup of coffee, cracking jokes, and watching over us all.
In honor of Ken’s memory, his family asks that you do what he always did best: love a little harder, laugh a little louder, and never miss an opportunity to enjoy the simple pleasures in life.
Rest easy, Ken. You will forever be the heart of our family.
