Kenneth "Ken" Mello

Kenneth "Ken" Mello, 79, of Westport, formerly of Fall River, husband of Irene (Thibault) Dube Mello, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2016. He served in the Army and was employed by NUSC Security System, Newport, retiring in 1996. He was an enthusiastic fan of all sports, especially the Red Sox and Patriots. An avid bowler of 54 years, he served as instructor for the Junior Bowling League and was inducted into the "Hall of Fame" via the "American Men's Bowling League". Besides his wife of 44 years, he leaves stepdaughters, Elaine (Dube) Ca of Fall River and Diane Hagg and her husband John of Florida; grandchildren, Michelle DaCosta and her husband Tom of Swansea, Tenay Paul and Heidi Soucy; great-grandchildren, Caitlin, Tommy, Sidney, Caleb, Emily, Calyn, Xavier and Mason; a sister-in-law, Lydia Mello of Rhode Island; nieces and cousins. He was the son of the late Antonio and Maria (Ferreira) Mello; the brother of the late Joseph and George Mello and the grandfather of the late Brandon Soucy. His funeral service will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 So. Main St., Fall River. Interment, Notre Dame Cemetery. Visitation, Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Large parking area & barrier-free entrance at the rear of funeral home.
