Kathleen (Moore) Durand, of Swansea, died Thursday, April 13, 2006. She was the wife of Edward J. Durand. Born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Fall River Fire Chief Thomas Moore and Rita (Storey) Moore, she had resided in Swansea for the past 35 years. A graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, she earned a bachelor's degree in English from Northeastern University and a master's degree in English literature from the University of Arizona. A staff reporter, she was employed by The Herald News for 36 years and was honored by the Associated Press, the Fall River Educators Association, the Bristol County Teachers Association and the New England Press Association. Besides her husband she is survived by 2 brothers, Dr. John Moore of Sarasota, Florida and Thomas Moore of Walcott, VT; 5 sisters, Noreen Cleffi of Fairhaven, Anne Moore and Patrice Moore, both of Fall River, Jeanne Moore of Providence and Deborah Mulrooney of Epping, NH; a godchild, Joseph Moore-Costa of Fall River and nieces and nephews. Following cremation, a memorial mass will be held Saturday, April 29 at 12:00 noon in St. Patrick Church, Somerset. Calling hours and flowers omitted.
