Joseph Moniz, Sr.

Joseph Moniz, Sr., 62, of Mitchell Drive, Fall River,formerly of Maple Gardens, died Sunday, September 10, 2006 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Rosemary (Kelleher) Moniz. Born in Fall River, June 6, 1944, the son of Alice (Ferreira) Moniz Medeiros of Fall River and the late John B. Moniz, he resided in Fall River most of his life. A Boston Red Sox fan, he owned and operated Joe's Texaco Station illness forcing his retirement many years ago. Besides his wife of 39 years and mother, he leaves 4 sons, Joseph Moniz, Jr., David Brian Moniz and Philip Mathew Moniz and his companion Claudia Rodrigues, all of Fall River and Brian Thomas Moniz and his companion Karen Larson of Westport; 4 brothers, Richard Moniz and Frank Moniz, both of Swansea and Dennis Moniz and Alfred Gagne, both of Fall River; a sister, Sandra Fontaine of Fall River; 3 grandchildren, Tiffany Ann, Tyler Brian and Jenna Rose Moniz, and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late John and Arthur Moniz. His funeral will be held Wednesday at 8:15 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 S. Main St. Fall River, with a funeral mass in St. Anne Church at 9:00 AM. Burial, St. Patrick Cemetery. Visitation, Tuesday 6:00 to 8:00 PM. LARGE PARKING AREA and barrier-free entrance to the rear of funeral home.
