FOR HIS GUESTBOOK, PLEASE GO TO WWW.LEGACY.COM Joseph G. Medeiros, 87, of Lafayette Place, Fall River, formerly of Davis St., died Saturday, January 22, 2005 at Sarah S. Brayton Nursing Care Center. He was the beloved companion of Lillian Copsetta. Born in Fall River, the son of the late Manuel and Philomena (Goularte) Medeiros, he lived in Fall River most of his life and in Westport for several years. An Army veteran of WW II, he was a medical technician at the Naval War College, Newport, RI for 20 years, retiring in 1981. A member of the New England Soccer Hall of Fame, he was a professional soccer player for 15 years, having played for the New England Soccer League, the Young Nationals and the Lincolns. He enjoyed dancing. Besides his companion of many years, survivors include a daughter, Donna M. Robitaille and her husband Lionel J.C. of Fairhaven; 3 grandchildren, Jacob, Andrew and Alycia Robitaille; a sister, Mary Perry of Fall River and nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Edna Almeida and Manuel, Frank and Antone Medeiros and the former husband of the late Florence (Lamothe) Medeiros. His funeral was held Thursday at 9:00 a.m. from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Bedford St., at 10:00. Interment, St. Patrick Cemetery. Calling hours were Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Large parking area and barrier-free entrance to the rear of funeral home.
