Joseph W. Lessard

Joseph W. Lessard, 70, of Westport, MA and Estero. FL, husband of Barbara (Leandro) Lessard, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2009. A graduate of Diman Regional Vocational High School, Fall River, he was employed by Swansea Concrete and owned and operated Lessard and Sons Trucking, Westport, Consumer Auto Parts and Machine Shop, Tiverton, RI, and Bayside Garage, Fall River. A race car enthusiast and member of NASCAR, he was involved in racing at Seekonk Speedway, MA for many years. He loved riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycles with family and friends and attended numerous motorcycle events including Sturgis, Daytona, Laconia Bike Weeks and local charity motorcycle runs. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Bonita Springs, FL. Besides his wife of 48 years, he leaves a son David Lessard and his wife Jennifer of Westport, MA; 4 grandchildren, Alyson, Leah, Joshua and Aaron Lessard; siblings, Joan (Lessard) Cabral of Port St. Lucie, FL and Samuel Sarkees, Jr. of Fall River and aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late, Gregory Lessard; the son of the late Joseph Lessard, Sr. and Mildred (Mamon) Lessard Sarkees; the stepson of the late Samuel Sarkees, Sr. and the brother of the late Christine (Sarkees) England. Following cremation, a Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, April 4, in Notre Dame Church, Fall River, at 11:00 AM. Relatives and friends invited.
