Joseph A. Kovalski, Sr.

d. October 25, 2023

With heartfelt sorrow, we have lost our beloved Joe, Dad, Pops, Brother and Grandpa Joe on October 25, 2023, after a courageous battle of various health issues.

Joe was born in Boston, MA, son of the late Stanley J. and Mary J. (Tortorella) Kovalski.  He lived in Wollaston (Quincy), Attleboro and Fall River, MA. Joe was a graduate of North Quincy High School, Class of 1964 and a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War. He also attended Bryant and Stratton College.

Joe was the fiancé and loving companion of 30 years to Linda Poe of Fall River, MA.  He leaves Linda, and his beloved children: Brian (husband Ron), Donna (husband Tim Linfield), Joseph A. Jr. (wife Marcia) and Rene (husband Elnor Gurbanov); He is also survived by Linda’s children: Heather (husband Raymond Antaya) and Hershel E. Poe, III (wife Jennifer); his siblings, Stanley Kovalski, Jr.(late wife Nancy, Donna Plamondon ( late husband Burton), Anthony Kovalski (wife Patricia) and was the brother of the late Lorraine Noyes (late husband Stephen).

Joe also leaves his beloved grandchildren, Joseph “Jo-Jo” Kovalski, Tyler Kovalski, Tiffany Kovalski, Gabriella Kovalski, Dakota Kovalski, Ashara Kovalski,  Arianna Gurbanov, Adam Moniz and Shaine Moniz; Great-grandchildren, Zeke and Abigal Linfield;

Linda’s grandchildren, Asher Antaya, Davin and Tyler Poe. He was also the proud uncle of many nieces and nephews, and left cousins and friends.

Joe, as he was fondly known, will always be remembered as a generous and caring man who was always trying to make you laugh, smile and ready with a joke or a story for any situation. He was a true family man and patriarch whose love and pride for his children and grandchildren knew no bounds. Whether operating his CB, being a mentor to his Boy Scouts, working in the jewelry, automotive or marine occupations, cooking, fixing things or doing his favorite pastime of fishing fresh and saltwater, he was happy and content. Joe’s family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses, CNAs at Saint Anne’s Hospital, Prima Care, Charlton Memorial Hospital, Southcoast Health and Sarah Brayton Nursing Care Center for their excellent care and compassion during his long health struggles.
