Joseph "Duke" Cabral, 80, of Fall River, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2018, at home. He was the beloved friend and companion of Jean (Camara) Melia and the husband of the late Jeannette (Robillard) Cabral.
A graduate of B.M.C Durfee High School, class of 1956, he served in the Navy Reserve from 1956-1968. He was a utility worker for New England Electric Systems for 32 years. He then was employed by National Grid until his retirement. Joseph was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and Utility Workers of America. His hobbies included carpentry, woodworking, fishing and sailing. He was a Red Sox and New England Patriots fan.
Besides his longtime companion, he leaves four children, Diane Stec and her husband Jerry, Jacquline Furtado and her significant other Brian McCormack, Michael Cabral and Joseph Cabral and his significant other Marcia Morgan, all of Fall River; six grandchildren, Josh Furtado, Megan Furtado, Shawn Stec, Jessica Stec, Allen Cabral and James Cabral; three great-grandchildren, Kelly Furtado, Mason Furtado and Travis Souza and nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Homer Cabral, Delia Perry and John Cabral and the son of the late Joseph and Delia (Deforge) Cabral.
A private Funeral Mass was held Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Good Shepherd Church. Burial with full military honors took place at Notre Dame Cemetery.
