Joseph A. Bastille, Jr.

Joseph Alphonse Bastille, 72, formerly of Framingham, Massachusetts, son of the late Joseph Bastille and Germaine (Bouffard) Bastille (a native of Fall River), passed away from cancer at his home in Bowling Green, Kentucky on Wednesday, December 4, 2013. He leaves his beloved sister, Gloria O'Donoghue and her husband Kevin of Brisbane, Australia; loving nephews, Ryan O'Donoghue and his wife Nicole and Michael O'Donoghue and his wife Katie, cherished friends, Valerie Coleman and her family, aunts, uncles and cousins. He will be sadly missed by all those who knew him, family and friends. Born in South Boston, Joseph graduated from Framingham High School and went on to receive a Diploma in Architectural Engineering from Wentworth Institute, a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree in Applied Physics from the University of Massachusetts. He was a professor of Physics at the University of Southern Illinois, and later at Western Kentucky University where he also held the position of the Physics Laboratory coordinator. He will be remembered for his determination and tenacity, his dedication to his work, his love of knowledge and respect for the value of education and his strength of character. His funeral will be held Saturday, DECEMBER 14, from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass at Holy Name Church, Fall River, at 10:00 AM. Burial, St. Patrick Cemetery. Visitation, Saturday morning prior to the funeral from 8:00 to 9:00 AM. LARGE PARKING AREA and BARRIER-FREE ENTRANCE at the rear of funeral home.
