Jose Artur "Joe" Santos

Jose “Joe” Artur Santos, 70, of Fall River, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2024. He was the husband of Alice (Medeiros) Santos, whom he loved unconditionally. For the last several weeks, she never left his side while he was in the hospital.

Joe worked at the Dartmouth House of Correction for many years as a maintenance engineer. He enjoyed taking his dog Duke for rides and taking him to the park to throw the ball too. He also loved to go for rides on his Harley, watch soccer, go fishing, and to go out for coffee and socialize with his many friends.

Joe loved to take trips to Portugal and go on family cruises. He even got the title “Chaperone” since he was the only guy with all girls on the cruises.

He was the father of Jennifer Lynn Santos (Keith Santerre) and Keith Santos (Katelyn Hall); grandfather of Noah Martins and Layla Martins; brother of Maria Fatima Ferreira (husband Tony); brother-in-law of Cidalia Arruda (late husband Ernesto), Zelia Araujo (husband Stephen), and John Medeiros; and had many nieces and nephews.

Jose was the son of the late Artur Teixeira and Maria de Lurdes (Leal) Santos.

He also leaves his best friend and faithful companion, Duke.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, January 16 from  9:00 AM to 12:00 NOON in the Auclair Funeral Home 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral service following at 12:00 NOON. Burial at St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
