John S Zukowski

John S. Zukowski, 86, of Warren St., Fall River, died Monday, May 8, 2006 at Southpointe Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center. He was the husband of Adele (Pomprowicz) Zukowski. A lifelong resident of Fall River, he was the son of the late Anthony and Mary (Banach) Zukowski. An Army veteran of WW II and Purple Heart Medal recipient, he was employed by the Firestone Rubber Co. for over 30 years. An accomplished soccer player and member of the Holy Cross Soccer Club, he was inducted to the Fox Point Soccer Hall of Fame of in 1992. He was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Parish and enjoyed watching and following all of the local professional sports teams. Besides his wife of 65 years, survivors include 2 sons, John S. Zukowski, Jr. and his wife Pauline (Lachance) Zukowski of Swansea and Robert Zukowski and his wife Patricia (Jeffries) Zukowski of Dartmouth; 4 grandchildren, Gary J. Zukowski, Jodie Anne Fernandes, Maureen E. Dutra and Catherine A. Marcelino; a great-grandchild, Jack Robert Dutra and nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Nora Feret, Jennie Rys and Alice Frechette. Private arrangements are with the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main St. Fall River, Massachusetts.
