John Joseph Wilding, Sr.

John Joseph Wilding, Sr., 91, of The Inn at Clifton, Somerset, formerly of Snell St., Fall River, beloved husband of Sabina E. (Tarazewich) Wilding, died Thursday, June 18, 2009. He was a graduate of Saints Peter and Paul School, BMC Durfee High School, class of 1939 and Bradford Durfee Technical Institute.
A New England Telephone Co. employee for many years, he was a member and volunteer of the Telephone Pioneers of America. A decorated Army veteran of WW II, First Lieutenant Wilding's tours of duty included New Hampshire, where he met his wife, an Army Nurse, and Iceland, the European Theater and engagement in the "Battle of the Bulge". He was a member of the American Legion, University of Massachusetts Alumni Assn., Saints Peter and Paul Parish Retirees and an associate member of the Polish American Veterans. He was a dedicated Cub Scout leader of Pack 17 for many years and a lifetime communicant of Saints Peter and Paul Parish. His interests included travel, sailing, dancing, loving his family and friends and enjoying life.
Besides his wife of 62 years he leaves 2 children, Christine McDaniel (husband late Robert) of Newton, MA and Dr. John J. Wilding, Jr. (wife Susan) of Sidney, Ohio; grandchildren, Kaila McDaniel, Jennifer Bogucki (husband Benjamin) Emily Wilding and Marissa Wilding and nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late Frederick and Mary (Simpson) Wilding and the brother of the late Frederick and Raymond Wilding.
His funeral will be held Monday at 9:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in Holy Cross Church of Saints Peter and Paul Parish, Pulaski St., at 10:00 AM. Burial, Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
Visitation, Sunday 4:00 to 8:00 PM. LARGE PARKING AREA and BARRIER-FREE ENTRANCE at the rear of funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations to Saints Peter and Paul School, 240 Dover St., Fall River MA 02721 or American Heart Assn., 20 Speen St., Framingham MA 01701 would be appreciated.
