John R. Walton, Sr.

John R. "Smilin Jack" Walton, Sr., 72, a friend of Bill W., of Tuttle St., Fall River, died Thursday, September 22, 2005 at Saint Anne's Hospital. He was the former husband of the late Frances "Bea" (Auger) Walton. A lifelong resident of Fall River, he was the son of the late Ida Walton and Henry Proulx. An Army veteran of the Korean War and member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, he was a painter and laborer in Greater Fall River. Survivors include 3 daughters, Jacklyn R. Copley, Karen A. Rego and Jo-Ann J. Santerre, all of Fall River; 2 sons, John R. Walton, Jr and Kevin J. Walton, both of Fall River; 3 sisters, Kathleen Vicaire of Maynard, Evelyn "Pat" Proulx of Hudson and Janice Stafford of Marlboro; a brother, Rene Proulx of Taunton; 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. His funeral will be held Saturday at 9:00 a.m. from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in St. Mary Cathedral at 10:00. Calling hours Friday 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday morning prior to the funeral from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. LARGE PARKING AREA and barrier-free entrance to the rear of funeral home.
