John E. Sykes

John E. Sykes, 78, of Hartwell St., Fall River, formerly of So. Main St., Fall River and Westerly, RI, husband of Delores (Carreiro) St. Pierre Sykes and the late Pauline (Serra) Sykes, died Monday, March 30, 2009. A former Academy Building custodian, he retired from employment with Quaker Fabrics. A grateful friend of Bill W, he served in the Air Force and enjoyed dancing and fishing. Besides his wife he leaves, 2 children, Gene Sykes and his wife Adele of Charlestown, RI and Marigene Panciera of Westerly; grandchildren, Amelia and Joseph Mendonca, Jr, Alexander Wagner and Paulina Panciera; great-granddaughters, Mariah, Maranda and Camerin; stepchildren, Lisa Hebert (husband Fred) and Louis St.Pierre, all of Fall River, Normand St.Pierre (wife Robin) of Manville, RI and Danielle St.Pierre (husband Tony) of Tiverton and step-grandchildren, Ashley, Jared, Harley, Evan, Erin and Tyler. He was the son of the late Mary (Burns) McCormick and the stepson of the late Hibbard Alexander. A funeral service will be held Friday at 11:00 AM in the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River. Burial, St. Sebastian Cemetery, Westerly. Visitation, Friday morning prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. LARGE PARKING AREA and BARRIER-FREE ENTRANCE at the rear of funeral home.
