John W. Gerry

John W. Gerry, 86, of Swansea, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. He was the husband of the late Kathleen C. (Connor ) Gerry.

A United States Army Veteran, John proudly served in Korea. After his service, John earned his Bachelors at University of Rhode Island and later his Master’s Degree in Medical Technology from the former Southeastern Massachusetts University.  He spent his career at the Providence VA where worked as the Hematology/Blood Bank Supervisor. A Boy Scout in his youth, he carried his love of scouting into adulthood.  He served Swansea’s Troop 26 as an Assistant Scoutmaster for 30 years.  An avid reader, he could always be found with a book in his hands.  He was a natural storyteller and loved to share amusing anecdotes with his family and friends. He loved music and thought Willie Nelson was a national treasure.

John is survived by his two children, Brian S. Gerry (wife Deb) and Erinn Gerry (husband Kiran); his grandson, Sean Patrick Gerry; and many nieces and nephews.

John was the son of the late Charles A. and Cecelia (Flynn) Gerry; and brother of the late Charles Gerry.

A visitation will be held, Wednesday, May 29, from 4:00PM to 7:00PM at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main Street, Fall River. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 30, at 10:00AM. Cremation to follow.
