John F. Fanning, 82, of Newbury St., Fall River, died Saturday, March 4, 2006 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Ellenor "Ellie" (Healey) Fanning. A lifelong resident of Fall River, he was the son of the late John F. and Mary (Souza) Fanning. Mr. Fanning owned and operated the former Fanning's Richfield Service Station and was service manager for Miller Chrysler-Plymouth, Weir Auto and Harbour Chrysler, retiring in 1985. Besides his wife of 60 years, survivors include 3 sons, John F. Fanning and his wife Jane of Swansea, Richard P. Fanning and his wife Anne of Tiverton and Michael G. Fanning and his wife Cindi of Barrington, RI; a daughter, Mrs. Paul (Colleen) Bissonnette of Taunton; a sister, Evelyn Aubin of Fall River; 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, an aunt and nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Frank Fanning. His funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in Holy Name Church at 10:00 AM. Burial, St. Patrick Cemetery. Calling hours Tuesday 4:00 to 8:00 PM. LARGE PARKING AREA and barrier-free entrance to the rear of funeral home.
