John Da Silva

April 13, 1938 — September 9, 2022

John Da Silva, 84, of Fall River, passed away at home Friday, September 9, 2022. He was the husband of Natalia M. (Da Silva) Da Silva.

Born in São Jorge, Azores, he was the son of the late Jose Da Silva and Maria Jesus (Igreija) Da Silva.

John served in the Portuguese Army prior to moving to the United States. He previously was employed as a Security Guard and in Maintenance Operations at Brown University. He played the clarinet in the Saint Cecilia Philharmonic Band of Fall River for over 50 years and was a patron of the Holy Ghost Society for nearly 35 years. Known as “Senhor John”, he loved working with his hands and would fix anything for anyone, even in his final days.

Besides his wife of 38 years, he leaves two godchildren, Abilio Soares and John C. Mendonca; and many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Manuel Da Silva, José Da Silva, Eduardo Da Silva, and Maria Mendonca.

His visitation will be held Monday, September 12, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 So. Main St., Fall River.

His funeral will be held Tuesday, September 13, at 9:00 AM from the funeral home with a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at Santo Christo Church. Burial to follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
