John Francis Cipollini, 74, of Westport Harbor, formerly of Fall River, husband of Rayna A. (Maltais) Cipollini and son of the late Harry Cipollini and Mary Veronica Cipollini, RN, peacefully entered into rest Friday, March 25, 2016. A member of BMC Durfee High School, Class of 1959, John received his bachelor's degree in education from Providence College in 1963 and received his masters degree in Modern European History from Villanova University in 1965. A born teacher, John taught six years at SMU as a history professor. He worked at Wolfson Zalkin, as a stockbroker, from 1972 to 1978 and ended his 38 year career in the brokerage business with 32 years at Barrett & Co, where he ran a Fall River office for 13 years before returning to the Providence office. John was an avid golfer and member of the Fall River Country Club, Acoaxet Country Club, as well as, a member of the Elephant Rock Beach Club and the Quequechan Club. John passionately loved the game of baseball. In 1957, he participated in the Durfee High School baseball team's win of the State Championship, St. Patrick's CYO winning of over 60 consecutive games, and 3 consecutive Diocesan Championships. He was a hard worker, committed family provider, and loved being with family and friends. He enjoyed coaching his sons' baseball Little League teams at Abbott Court, of which he participated in 3Championships. He also was a Pony League baseball coach at Maplewood Park and coached basketball for 9 years within the Milliken League, all in Fall River. Besides his wife of 50 years, he leaves three children, John E. Cipollini and his wife Carol of Fall River and Nina M. (Cipollini) Rapoza and her husband Mark and Mario F. Cipollini and his wife Jill, all of Westport and grandchildren, Caroline and John D. Cipollini, Mia, Julia and Marcus Rapoza and Dominic and Lily Cipollini. His funeral will be held Wednesday at 8:45 a.m. from the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass at Good Shepherd Parish, Fall River, at 10:00 a.m. Interment, Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport. Visitation, Tuesday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Large parking area & barrier-free entrance at the rear of funeral home. Donations may be made to Westport Ambulance Fund, PO Box 3470, Westport MA 02790.
