Joan A. (Mello) Lowery

Joan A. (Mello) Lowery, 76, of Fall River, formerly of Tiverton, former wife of the late James Lowery, entered into eternal life with the Lord, Monday, January 27, 2014. She was the mother of Robin St. Jacques (husband Steven) of Dartmouth and Sandra Manuel (husband Bruce) of Tiverton and the late Richard "Rick" Martin (wife Donna of Fall River); the grandmother of Jessica Murphy, Jason and Jillian Martin, Erica Cabral, Nina Gregory and Alex Manuel and the sister of Barbara Pelletier and Manuel Mello, both of Fall River. She also leaves 6 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews and was the daughter of the late Manuel and Pasqualina "Peggy" (Silvia) Mello. Joan had spent most of her life in the Health Care Field in area nursing homes and as a long term care ombudsman serving as an advocate for nursing home residents. She was a member Third Baptist Church, a St. Anne's Hospital and Hospice Outreach volunteer and past-president of the Borden Place East Tenant Association.
