Joan Frances Leger, affectionately known as Joani, of Westport, formerly of Fall River, passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2024 at the age of 69.
Joani’s educational journey culminated with her graduation from Durfee B.M.C High School in 1973. Following her academic pursuits, she began a fulfilling career, being employed by Fairway Agency as well as Ann & Hope, and Aetna Insurance.for many years. Her dedication and hard work were evident in her professional life, where she made a significant impact on those around her.
An avid sports fan, Joan had an immense love for New England sports. She passionately supported her favorite teams, the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox, enjoying every moment of their games. Beyond her sports enthusiasm, she held a deep appreciation for the ocean; going on cruises brought her immense joy and added to her zest for life. She loved spending time at her aunt and uncle's vacation home in Phillips ME. Joani loved fresh flowers and working in her garden.
She was a communicant of St. Mary's Cathedral and a member of the former Sacred Heart Parish.
Joani was the sister of Kathleen M. Moniz (husband James), Kenneth P. Leger (wife Cheryl), Mary Louise Ferreira (husband Brian), Matthew G. Leger (wife Leanne) and the late Andrew W. Leger; the Godmother of Bryan Moniz, and also leaves several other nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her father, Kenneth Leger, and her mother, Margaret "Peggy" C. (Croft) Leger, whose legacy of love and warmth lives on through her family.
Joani’s family would like to thank the staff of Atwood 5, at Charlton Memorial Hospital for their care and compassion.
A visitation will be held Friday, December 6, from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM with a funeral service in the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main St. River, at 10:00 AM. Burial to follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery.
