Joan E. Burda

Joan E. (Bernier) Burda, 81, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 8, 2025. She was the wife of the late John J. Burda. 

Throughout her life, Joan exemplified dedication working as a bookkeeper for the former First National Store. An artist, her artistic spirit brought beauty into the lives of those around her, reflecting her loving and caring nature.

Joan cherished her family, sharing her life with them in ways that touched their hearts deeply. She was the embodiment of love and devotion, a constant source of encouragement and support to those fortunate enough to be part of her life. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, who will continue to carry forward her legacy of kindness and compassion.

In her faith, Joan found purpose and community at Good Shepherd Parish, where she was honored to receive the Marian Medal for her unwavering devotion as a devoted Catholic. This recognition stands as a testament to her commitment to her beliefs and her church family.

Joan’s departure leaves a significant void. She is preceded in death by her parents, Armand Bernier and Theresa (DamBoise) Bernier and her brothers, Ronald Bernier and Edmond Bernier.

A visitation will be held on Monday, January 13, 2025, from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Good Shepherd Church, located at 1598 South Main Street, Fall River, MA 02724. Following the visitation, a Mass in her honor will take place at 11:00 AM, at Good Shepherd Church. Burial at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Robeson Street, Fall River.

Joan E. Burda will be remembered not only for her professional accomplishments and artistic talents but more importantly, for the love and support she offered to her family and friends. Her spirit will continue to inspire and guide those who were fortunate enough to know her.
