Jeannette (Tache) Charest

August 17, 1920 — May 31, 2008

Jeannette (Tache) Charest, 87, of Fall River, widow of Romeo J. "Bucky" Charest to whom she had been married for 67 years, died peacefully, Saturday, May 31, 2008. She graduated from Durfee High School in 1937 and continued her education at Thibodeau Business School. During her lifetime Jeannette lived her life to the fullest by using her many talents in support of others. First and foremost, she was wife and mother. She created a home environment which catered to her family. As treasurer and bookkeeper for her husband in his business at Eastern Television she provided him with both support and insight. Among her many civic endeavors she served as Financial Secretary for the Daughters of Isabella followed by eight years as president of St Roch's Parish Council of Catholic Women. Over the years she also served as president of the Exchangettes, the Lafayette-Durfee Historical Foundation and vice-president of the Franco-American Civic League which honored her in 1997 by naming her Franco-American of the Year. She is survived by 4 children, Mariette V. Paine and her husband Stanley of Westport, Ma, Jeannine Michalewich and her husband Mel of Somerset and Vero Beach, FL, Marc R. Charest and his wife Barbara of Fall River and Paul R. Charest and his wife Judith of Somerset. She also leaves grandchildren Melinda Paine-Dupont, Laurie Paine-Faircloth and Marc, Paul and Andrea Charest. Jeannette was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Amelia and Alexander Dupont and Isabel and Olivia Charest. The oldest of five children born to Malvina (Talon) Tache and Robert Tache she was the sister of Robert L. Tache, Doris Comiskey and Roger P. Tache all of Fall River and Gerald Tache of Stewart, Fl. Her funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:00 am from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in St. Anne Church at 10:00 AM. Entombment, Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation, Tuesday 4:00 to 7:00 PM. LARGE PARKING AREA AND BARRIER-FREE ENTRANCE at the rear of funeral home.
