Jeanne L. (Ouellette) Messier, 79, of Cypress St., Fall River, widow of William R. Messier, Sr., died Thursday, October 4, 2007.
The daughter of the late Romeo A. and Lea "Blanche" (Sirois) Ouellette and a 1945 graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, she was employed by McCrory's Department Stores, Burns Power Tools and Hancock Fabrics.
A seamstress most of her life who enjoyed all types of needlework, she is Vice President and former President of Stitchers by the Sea, a member of Smockers Arts Guild of America and Holy Name Parish, a former member of Buggy Bowlers at Durfee Lanes and a former Girl Scout leader. She cherished time with her family and enjoyed reading, dining out, gardening and traveling.
She leaves 3 children, Claudia Messier and her husband James Metcalf of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, William R. "Rick" Messier and his wife Constance of Little Compton, RI and Deborah J. Deschenes and her husband John of Westport; grandchildren, Frank Wiley, Army Sgt. Jesse Wiseman and Fabienne and Katherine Messier; great-grandchildren, Declan and Mara Wiseman; a brother, Romeo Ouellette of No. Attleboro, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Her funeral will be held Monday at 9:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in Holy Name Church at 10:00 AM.
Visitation, Sunday 4:00 to 8:00 PM. PORTICO, LARGE PARKING AREA and BARRIER-FREE ENTRANCE at the rear of funeral home. Donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, 502 Bedford St., Fall River MA 02720.
