Jason T. Berube, age 51 of Fall River, MA unexpectedly passed away on February 9th 2024 due to complications from RSV and asthma. Born to Ellen L. (Quirk) Berube (life partner Keith J. Green) of Fall River, MA and George A. Berube (late wife Maureen A. O’Reilly) of Falmouth, MA, Jason leaves behind a legacy of education, empathy, and enthusiasm for life. Those who knew him would describe him as a “truly good person”.
He held a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts Boston, after completing his Bachelor of Science from Bridgewater State University where he was a proud Bear.
Professionally, Jason dedicated himself to tutoring and coaching at the Nemasket Group, along with mentoring students through the EXCEL program at Bridgewater State University. His remarkable empathy allowed him to connect deeply with people with various abilities, resulting in a significant impact on their lives.
Jason had an immense passion for sports and music. He made trips- to as many sports arenas as he could- for whatever sport possible. As a season ticket holder of the Providence Bruins, he shared many memorable moments with nieces, nephews and other family members. An accomplished golfer, Jason was a member of the Cape Cod Country Club. He was a past president and secretary of the Falmouth Men’s Club, a summer youth athletic program, until his passing. He had a broad and active love of music. In 2023 he visited The Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, OH with his dad. He faithfully listened to Casey Kasem and many other musical programs online. He was a Jeopardy and trivia champion.
Though he never married or had children of his own, he was a strong and solid influence in his family’s lives, providing a constant presence, a loving hand, a tutoring session and endless support and encouragement. Above all, Jason focused on Family. He was a full participator. Most notable was his beautiful kinship with his sister Amy A. (Berube) Pontes, husband Douglas J. Pontes and nephews Liam and Rian Pontes, as well as nephews Mike, Danny, Owen and nieces Betsy and Daisy. He could always be seen at his nephew’s sporting and milestone events offering encouragement and deep support from the sidelines. Jason had special deep bonds with brother Brendon J. Santos and best friend Celio Chaves (and wife Laurie). He will be profoundly missed by all of his aunts, uncles and cousins along with so many other close family members and friends.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, February 16th, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main St. Fall River. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 17th at 10:00 A.M. at Holy Name Church, Hanover St. Fall River. The interment will be at St. Patrick Cemetery.
