Janet I. (Szynal) Koska, 74, of Somerset, Retired Director of Volunteers for 44 years at St. Luke’s Hospital, New Bedford, passed into eternal life Friday, November 4, 2022.
She was the wife of the late John S. Koska.
Janet will be remembered as a caring, social, generous and outgoing person.
She was a longtime volunteer with Relay For Life and was a lay volunteer at St.Mary’s Cathedral, and also the St.Luke’s and Charlton hospitals auxiliary.
Janet was a graduate of Mount Saint Mary’s Academy and Stonehill College.
A New England Sports fan, she especially liked watching Celtics basketball. She also enjoyed music and dancing.
She leaves a daughter, Keriann J. Koska; her mother, Irene E. (Lescault) Szynal Kot;
a brother, Edward F. Szynal, Jr. (wife Rose M.); a sister, Sandra Read (late husband Scott); nieces and nephews.
She was the daughter of the late Edward F. Szynal, Sr. and stepdaughter of the late Matthew J. Kot.
Visitation will be held Monday, November 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main St. Fall River.
Her Funeral Mass will be held Monday, November 7, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Spring St. Fall River. Burial will be private.
