James "Jim" Whalon, 82, of Fall River, died Tuesday, July 25, 2006 at St. Anne Hospital, Fall River. A lifelong resident of Fall River, he was the son of the late James and Anna (Crowley) Whalon. He was a parishioner of the former Saint Louis Church, Bradford Ave, Fall River, where he was an alter server. He was a current member of Saint Mary's Cathedral. He was a graduate of Saint Louis Elementary School in Fall River and Monsignor Coyle High School in Taunton. He served in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II. Mr. Whalon was formerly employed by the United Brotherhood of Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Local 77 of New Bedford. An avid reader, he enjoyed history, sports, and supported many charitable organizations. He is survived by numerous cousins and some close friends. Funeral Monday at 10:30 AM from AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 S. Main St. Fall River, with a funeral mass in St. Mary's Cathedral, Spring St. Fall River at 11 AM. Burial, St. Patrick Cemetery. Calling hours prior to funeral Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. Large parking area & barrier-free entrance to rear of funeral home.
